Who we are

Our website address is: https://www.pickedbyapro.com.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Newsletter

If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address, and if provided, your name, in order to send you our weekly newsletter. We use MailPoet, a WordPress email plugin and sending service provided by Automattic, to manage this list and deliver our emails. Signup requires your affirmative consent, and we do not add anyone to the list without it.

Your email address is stored securely with MailPoet and is not sold or shared with third parties for their own marketing purposes. You can review MailPoet’s privacy notice at https://www.mailpoet.com/privacy-notice/ for details on how they process this data on our behalf.

You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the “unsubscribe” link included in every email we send, or by contacting us at info@pickedbyapro.com. Once you unsubscribe, we retain a record that you opted out (to comply with anti-spam laws) but will not send you further newsletters.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use this site — for example, which pages are popular and how people arrive here. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect this information, which may include your IP address, browser type, device type, and general location. This data is aggregated and does not identify you personally. You can learn more about how Google handles this data at https://policies.google.com/privacy, and you can opt out of Google Analytics tracking using browser extensions such as the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Affiliate links and third-party tracking

This site contains affiliate links, including links to Amazon and other retailers, as part of the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program and other affiliate advertising programs. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

When you click an affiliate link, the retailer (such as Amazon) may set its own cookie on your browser to track that the referral came from this site, so that we may earn a commission if you make a qualifying purchase. This tracking is governed by that retailer’s own privacy policy, not ours — we do not have access to, or control over, the data these third parties collect. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any retailer before making a purchase.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor had visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who we share your data with

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

Aside from the analytics, affiliate tracking, and newsletter delivery described above, we do not sell or share your personal data with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

If you subscribe to our newsletter, we retain your email address for as long as you remain subscribed, and for a limited period afterward as an opt-out record if you unsubscribe.

For users who register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, have left comments, or have subscribed to our newsletter, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you, including removal from our newsletter list.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what data is collected about you, the right to opt out of certain data uses, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights.

To make any of these requests, contact us at info@pickedbyapro.com.

Where your data is sent

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. Newsletter subscriber data is sent to and stored by MailPoet, our email service provider.

Children’s privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal or regulatory reasons. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision.
